About Tennessee Technological University

Tennessee Technological University, more popularly referred to as Tennessee Tech, is an accredited public university located in Cookeville, which is the county seat of Putnam County, situated in the US state of Tennessee, with a population estimated at a number of more than 28 000 inhabitants, during the 2007 census, fact which makes it the largest micropolitan area among the 20 in the state.

Tennessee Tech was established in 1915, as Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, being formerly known as Dixie College, the name by which it was founded as a private institution in 1909. Today, Tennessee Technological University places special emphasis on undergraduate education in fields related to engineering and technology, also offering its students degrees in areas such as nursing, education, liberal arts, agriculture, and several other fields of study.

Athletics
